During 2013, we have been looking at several ways to enhance Guido's and here are some of the changes in store for 2014…
Guido's Menu App
In talking with many of our customers there have been several requests for a Guido's App. After much consideration, and figuring out exactly how we wanted to do it, we are excited to announce that we will be launching a Guido's Menu App, so no matter where you are, you'll always have a Guido's menu (and coupons) with you!
Each month we will highlight seasonal fruits and vegetables and create a one-of-a-kind special just for you. Many of our specials seem peculiar through the written description, but trust us… these are some of the most interesting and creative dishes you will ever savor!
Gluten Free Pizza
Many of you have asked if we offered a 'gluten free' pizza and our answer has been no. The biggest reason for this was because the flour labeled 'gluten free' was not truly 'gluten free'. And for that reason alone, we felt it was not in the best interest of our customers to offer something 'gluten free' that wasn't really 'gluten free'. However, on August 3, 2013, the FDA issued a final ruling defining 'gluten free' for food labeling.
"One of the criteria for using the claim "gluten-free," FDA is setting a gluten limit of less than 20 ppm (parts per million) in foods that carry this label. This is the lowest level that can be consistently detected in foods using valid scientific analytical tools. Also, most people with celiac disease can tolerate foods with very small amounts of gluten. This level is consistent with those set by other countries and international bodies that set food safety standards." For more information on the FDA ruling, visit www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/Allergens/ucm362510.htm
With "gluten free' now being properly defined we will be looking into carrying a 'gluten free' pizza crust coming in 2014.
Throughout the year, we will also be making many changes in-house that will hopefully improve your Guido's experience.
Here's wishing you and your family a happy and safe holiday season!
